Hanging Locker

--

The hanging locker is mostly just a closet to hang coats and other clothing. This will be a full height locker, spanning the distance from the floor all the way to the ceiling of the van. The outboard area of the hanging locker will be up against the side wall of the van, and as you can see, that van wall is anything but straight. That is why I used scrap wood and a hot glue gun to make a temporary template of the shape of the hanging locker bulkhead. That template shape will then be traced onto birch plywood and cut out.

This is the full height hanging locker. But wait, there's more!

Since the clothing I intend to hang in the hanging locker is only about 3 feet long, I built some storage compartments into the lower area of the hanging locker.

Fitting some plywood into the lower storage areas of the hanging locker.

This is how the hanging locker will look this summer. The main upper portion of the storage locker will be used to mostly hang coats. The smaller area in the middle will be for general storage of a few odds and ends. The storage area at the bottom will be the home of my brand new "poop bucket", the only toilet that the van will have. Yup, it's a bachelor van allright! Next winter I'll build 3 doors to fit on the face of the hanging locker.
